Can I just come along?
Yes, of course! If you have a bike in good working order and a bike helmet in good condition then please do contact us and come along to one of our New Rider sessions. These sessions are noted on the club calendar along with all other details.
Each coached session costs £3 at most venues. Sessions at venues with high costs shall generally be charged at cost. Any changes to this will be noted on the club calendar.
Membership application is via our British Cycling Club Page
Annual membership is £15 for youth riders. Adult membership is available for parent/guardians of youth members (Annual £25).
Please email Rob on:
to let him know that you would like to attend a new riders session.
Unfortunately we are not a club aimed at teaching children to ride bikes i.e. progress from stabilisers or push along bikes. We are also not a club specifically teaching Bikeability (cycling proficiency for those of a certain age).
What do I need to bring?
You must bring and wear a well fitting cycle helmet in good condition. Nobody will be allowed to ride without a helmet. Download our guide to buying and fitting a helmet.
Other things to consider
Solent Pirates is a club not a Creche
We are running a cycling club and not a child care facility! Please do not leave children unattended at any sessions without prior agreement of the coach running the session. Every cyclist signs-in at the start of the session and must be collected by the adult who signed them in.
Cycling is generally an outdoor sport and we are at the mercy of the weather. Given 'normal' weather we would anticipate continuing with sessions in rain or shine however circumstances may dictate from time to time that sessions are shortened or cancelled. Please ensure you are subscribed to our newsletter as email is the only communication we use for any late changes.
